Introducing Qwizdom
Case Studies
BBC Radio recently broadcast an interview with Karen Winterburn, a teacher at Westlea Primary School, Swindon, about the school's use of Qwizdom. They also interviewed Gary Morrison, Director of Qwizdom, about how the technology works and meets learning objectives.
Some of the points Karen Winterburn made include:
- "Qwizdom is a good investment and I can see a lot of other teachers at the school taking it up."
- "Qwizdom saves time for us in terms of the questionnaires because we have 310 children on roll so we've been able to analyse data much quicker."
- "We use it for science and pupil questionnaires."
- "I can find out how many children are responding at a certain time and hone down on how many are answering correctly."
- "The children think it is something new and unique and something they enjoy."

Testimonials
"...Even my reluctant mathematicians cheer when we do tests because they can use the remotes"
"One of my favourite resources to use with my whole class is the Qwizdom Q5 handsets for pupil interaction. It never fails to amuse me how the children’s enthusiasm for mental arithmetic and spelling grows when I open the case containing the sets. Even my reluctant mathematicians cheer when we do tests because they can use the remotes. The joy is that all children are participating; all their contributions are instantly assessed, giving the children instant feedback and giving me the ability to address any misconceptions instantly. I can manipulate the data in Excel for my own purposes and compare with other data. With the Q5 handsets, the children can input text so we can use their contributions for shared writing, without always relying on the confident children’s suggestions."»read more

"...a quiz usually works better than note-taking or text-books to get the class going."
"It's a particularly useful teaching aid for topics such as 'the rock cycle' or 'the brain' which have limited scope for experiments - a quiz usually works better than note-taking or text-books to get the class going." »read more

"...delighted with the professional service received"
"We contacted Qwizdom when our client (global healthcare conglomerate) wanted to use voting technology as part of their annual conference. We only approached Qwizdom the week before the event and they immediately began liaising with our client as to how best to use their interactive voting technology on the day. Both Global Event Management and our client were both impressed and delighted with the professional service received before, during and after the event."
Dianne Maginnis - Global Conference Management
"...we will definitely be using it again"
"Using Qwizdom at our Learning and Teaching Conference gave us an opportunity to get instant feedback on how the day had gone so that we could address any issues - good and bad! - straight away. Everything was collated so no one had to spend hours poring over paper - it was all ready done. In addition we were able to show how valuable a tool Qwizdom is for learning, teaching and assessment and how engaging it is for all learners including those teachers at the conference! It is a very powerful tool and we will definitely be using it again in many areas of our work, both in and out of the classroom."
Karen Newby Jones - Cardiff Schools and Lifelong Learning Service
"...generates a healthy competitive atmosphere in a training environment"
"The results are powerful, both in a live and post event situation. During an event a trainer can identify slow or 'no' answers, and encourage group members to speed up or actually vote. Post event the answers producing the least best results give a clear guide to areas that require focus and\or additional coaching. This technology it powerful because it generates a healthy competitive atmosphere in a training environment, and it's good fun!"
